Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure airside environment by conducting airfield inspections and coordinating operational and security activities. Monitors the airside area for compliance with policies and procedures and an efficient environment. Inspects aircraft movement areas and initiates corrective actions. Prepares inspection reports. Reports unsafe conditions and policy/procedure violations. Monitors construction and maintenance activities in operations areas to ensure a safe environment.

Responsibilities of this role include operating communications equipment, receiving and transferring emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance, as well as monitoring and responding to airport alarm signals regarding fires, airplane accidents, bomb threats, burglaries and facility maintenance. In addition, the Airport Communications Operator provides routine information to passengers, broadcasts aircraft emergency and hazardous condition information to appropriate airport and tenant personnel, and monitors Aircraft Operating Areas and other secure areas to prevent unauthorized access.
